Persian translation of “Eyewitnessed” and new German edition

رمان بیوگرافی ًآنچه من با قلم نور نوشتم ً زندگی پرماجرا و جسورانه منوچهر دقتی، عکاس خبرنگار ایرانی-فرانسوی از خاطرات واقعی او از تاریخ پنجاه سال گذشته جهان است.این روایت پلی از دوران کودکی او در ایران تا امروز را از دیده ها و تجربه های شخصی اش از اتفاقات مهم تاریخی نیم قرن گذشته را به تصدر می کشد. همه این داستان های شخصی، چه دراماتیک و چه کمیک حکایت هایی از اتفاقات باورنکردنی و متعددی هستند که برخی از آنها از هر داستان ابداع شده ای خارق العاده تر هستند. در عین حال، آنها ماهیت ستم، تلاش و مبارزه انسان برای آزادی و لذتی باور نکردنی به زندگی را به تصویر می کشند.

Jury Chair for the 2021 edition of the Bayeux Calvados-Normandie Award

I’m honoured to announce that I will chair the jury for the 28th edition of the Bayeux Calvados-Normandie Award for War Correspondence.

The Bayeux Calvados-Normandy award for war correspondents rewards reports about a conflict situation or its impact on civilians, or news stories involving the defense of freedom and democracy. The report must have been made between 1 June 2020 and 31 May 2021. A €7,000 prize is awarded in each category. Journalists can apply at http://www.prixbayeux.org.

Laboratorio di fotografia in Valle d’Itria

Speriamo che entro l’estate sia possibile vedere la gente, uscire, muoversi, e non vediamo ora di accogliere di nuovo gli ospiti. Perciò abbiamo deciso di annunciare già qualche workshop per quest’estate, dandovi la possibilità prenotare senza pagamento in anticipo.

Questo laboratorio è diretto agli appassionati di fotografia che mirano a migliorare le capacità del linguaggio fotografico, gli aspetti tecnici, la composizione, storytelling e l’importanza sociale e storica delle immagini.
Il workshop è composto da 5 lezioni e sarà tenuto da Manoocher Deghati. Si svolge dal 2 al 12 agosto e prevede 4 sessioni teoriche presso lo studio di Manoocher nella campagna di Martina Franca, un assignment fotografico individuale per ogni partecipante e un giro di street photography accompagnato da Manoocher.

Workshop: Street photography for timid people

Summer 2021

Learn from a globally renowned photojournalist at his vineyard in the picturesque Valle d’Itria: This workshop with Manoocher Deghati will be focused on how to approach people and how to establish a friendly relationship to make everyone feel comfortable with taking photos and having their photos taken. Then you’ll venture into charming nearby towns to develop your skills.

The workshop will take place over a period of 5 consecutive days, with two sessions, one theoretical and one practical, per day.

We’re hoping that by summer traveling will be possible and we are eager to welcome guests again. Therefore we decided to already announce some photography workshops for this summer, giving you the possibility to make a reservation without payment in advance.

You can choose to stay in our small charming family B&B Trullo Cicerone in the Apulian countryside near Martina Franca, or in the yurt (according to availability). Maximum number of participants: 6

Duration: 5 days, proposed dates: 19-23 July. Please contact us for alternative dates.

Price per person without accommodation: € 1,400.-, with one-week accommodation (18-24 July) including breakfast: € 1,900.-

Ability to drive a car strongly recommended.

Il workshop composto da 5 lezioni sarà tenuto da Manoocher Deghati, fotoreporter di fama internazionale già creatore e direttore dell’unità fotografica delle Nazioni Unite e di AINA Photojournalism Institute in Afghanistan, ex-direttore fotografico per Agence France Press (AFP) e Associated Press (AP). Nella sua carriera ha pubblicato e pubblica regolarmente i suoi lavori fotogiornalistici su National Geographic Magazine e collabora con testate come Time, Life Press, Newsweek, Figaro, Marie-Claire. Per World Press Photo è stato docente del Masterclass ad Amsterdam e nel 1984 ha vinto il 1° premio di World Press Photo e nel 1986 il 3° premio. Per anni ha fatto parte della giuria del World Press Photo.

Il workshop si svolge dal 19 al 25 agosto e prevede 4 sessioni teoriche presso lo studio di Manoocher a Trullo Cicerone, nella campagna di Martina Franca, un compito fotografico individuale per ogni partecipante e un giro di street photography accompagnato da Manoocher. “Eyewitnessed” describes the adventurous and bold life of Iranian-French photojournalist Manoocher Deghati against the backdrop of the past fifty years of world history: extraordinary experiences, remarkable encounters, incredible coincidences, and numerous anecdotes, some of which are more fantastic than any fictional story could be. At the same time, they illustrate the nature of oppression, the pursuit of freedom and an indestructible zest for life.

The biographical novel is available in English, German and Italian.

In these difficult times, with many of us being restricted to stay indoors, in order to use our time in a constructive way, I have decided to start a series of videos. In the coming weeks I’m going to talk about the stories behind some of my photographs.
